About 1200 square meters in size Parkes Manor was built in 1927 by the Parkes family and was used for three generations as a prestigious residence. The family had gained some wealth through the growing forestry at the beginning of the 20th century and acquired the 12000 square meter property overlooking the beautiful Knysna lagoon.

For a long time the house was only used for private purposes, but in november 2013 it was reopened as an prestigious and elegant guest house.

The manor house consists of nine individually decorated spacious suites, each with en-suite bathroom (completely renovated) with shower and separate bathtub, air condition, fan, tea/coffee making facility, TV, DVD-player, desk, minibar, safe and heating. Each room has access to a private patio or balcony.

Three of our suites face the lagoon and the garden. These suites are slightly smaller but have a beautiful view. Five standard suites are back facing and slightly larger. They are also the quieter option. The Honeymoon Suite is our largest and most luxurious suite which is also back facing.

In the right wing of the house you can find the dining room with an outdoor verandah for beautiful summer days. In the left wing of the house there are the bar and the cozy fireplace lounge for chilly winter nights.

From the entrance staircase you reach the park-like garden with a beautiful pool, a shady gazebo and many distributed seatings. We also have our own tee and putting green for the golfing enthusiasts. Sufficient free and secure parking facilities are located on the property. A borehole serves as an independent water supply in case of any municipal water restrictions.

A sumptuous breakfast consisting of a cold buffet and hot á la carte is included in your overnight rate. A la carte meals are available for lunch and dinner.
